Nai-fu Chen, PhD

Nai-fu is a Strategic Advisor at Anfield Capital, hired to advance the risk factor based investment approach known as Global Multi-Asset Strategies (GMAS). Nai-fu recently retired as Professor of Finance at the Merage School of Business at University of California, Irvine and the Department of Finance at the School of Business and Management at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His key areas of research involve the following areas:

  • Stability of currency and financial systems

  • Macroeconomic impact on investing

  • Economic forces (GDP growth, inflation, interest rates, credit risks, etc.) and their effect of the stock market (w/R. Roll and S. Ross, 1986)

  • Hedge funds:  asset allocations and portfolio management

 

Nai-fu’s research has appeared in various prestigious publications, including the Journal of Business, the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics and the International Review of Finance. Nai-fu has worked with some of the most prolific authors in Finance literature, including Merton Miller, Eugene Fama and Myron Scholes, during his time on the faculty at the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago (now University of Chicago Booth School of Business). Along with his many publications and academic accomplishments, he is one of the leading thinkers in the field of Finance, Asset and Market Behavior. Nai-fu is named in “Who’s Who in Economics.” He serves as an advisor to several central banks and monetary authorities.

 

Nai-fu holds a PhD in both Finance and Numerical Analysis from the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of California, Berkeley respectively.
